A lot has changed for Jeremiah Azu since the last Commonwealth Games. On the start line at Birmingham 2022, he was just 21 and on the cusp of making a name for himself.
Since then, he has won bronze at the Olympic Games in Paris in the 4 × 100 metres relay. In the same year, he also became the first Welshman to dip under 10 seconds in the 100 metres, achieving a PB of 9.97. He is the 2025 European Indoor Champion and 2025 World Indoor Champion over 60 metres.
This year, he narrowly missed out on the podium at the World Indoors, in what he described as “one of the best 60m races of all time.” He did, however, run a new PB of 6.45 in the semi-final.
Away from the track, things have changed too with Jeremiah becoming a Dad for the first time.
Born in the Netherlands, he moved with his family to Cardiff. His Dad is a pastor and Jeremiah sings in a church choir.
