Become a Volunteer

Become a voulenteer hero.jpg

Volunteers are the lifeblood of athletics. They are the everyday heroes who make running competitions, growing talent and providing opportunities possible. Become part of something special, gain skills and help people fulfil their potential... Become a Volunteer.

There are a number of different roles and responsibilities that are available for volunteers entering the sport. In many cases, clubs are desperate for help and assistance from new volunteers and welcome any amount of time and commitment that can be offered to support their activities. Volunteers are essential for the running of the sport and provide the support network which enables the sport of athletics to function across Wales. In 2021, we launched the Welsh Athletics Regional Volunteer Awards to acknowledge volunteer contribution in club and regional activity by volunteers across the four regions.

Many volunteers progress through the various pathways of the sport. As well as the key roles and responsibilities within an existing club, the most common routes are as either a coach or an official. For more information on coaching and officiating please visit the coaching and officiating sections of this website. To find your nearest club please visit the clubs pages. Also we have various opportunites to volunteer at our national championships throughout the year (at cross country / road / Track&Field indoors / outdoors).

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer please email volunteering@welshathletics.org with your contact information and location.
