Guiding principles as a coach: My core values when coaching are:
Hardwork
To assist the athletes to reach their individual potentials. By ensuring the sessions are challenging and adaptable to push the athletes to work hard to reach their own goals. Enjoyment To ensure the sessions are enjoyable and engaging for the athletes. If the athletes have an idea; providing this is safe then we will try and add this into the session.
Coaching milestones: I started coaching in 2017, I completed my Coaching Assistant in 2017, my Athletics Coach in Jumps in September 2018 and my Athletics Coach in Speed in September 2020. I have followed a number of athletes through from U11 through to U15.
I started my own group in February 2019 working with U11 and U13 athletes. In the 2019 season, I coached my first athlete to their first Welsh Championship Final. That season also saw a number of my athletes break the club age group records across the Sprint events, Long Jump and Relays. This was followed in February 2020, when I coached my first athlete to their first Welsh Championship Medal in Long Jump and to finish the season top of their respective Welsh Ranking.
Aspiration as a coach: My aspiration as a coach is to progress to being Jumps / Multi-Events Coach. Having competed across a number of events; I want to ensure there is always the opportunity for athletes to try the events they are interested in and reach their own individual potential.
