Welsh Cross Country Championships - Pembrey

The Welsh Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday 22nd February at Pembrey Country Park.

Some event information follows;

Overview

The 116th Welsh Cross Country Championships will take place at Pembrey Country Park near Llanelli on Saturday 22nd February. The event will use the same course as in 2019.

Arrival & Parking

Pembrey Country Park has a new barrier system in place where we have a Vehicle Number Plate Registration (ANPR) system. On arrival:

  • Drive up to the barrier which will open automatically. If it does not open press for a ticket and barrier will open.
  • Payments must be made before leaving at any of the 3 new pay stations situated at: Beach Entrance, Ski & Activity Centre & Log Cabin before you exit the park.
  • There are No Pay Stations at the exit barrier.
  • Car parking charges are £3.50 for all day and £3.00 for 2 hours.

All Pay Stations are clearly marked and will accept card, contactless and cash payments.

Parking

When you enter the Park you should follow the signs to the designated car parks. These are clearly signed in the Park and cater for over 1,000 cars. The course map shows where the car parks are in relation to the course.
Race Entries
Entries are made by club team managers (except for the Primary School Races). Individual athletes can enter themselves if necessary. Athletes must either be eligible to compete for Wales or be a member of a Welsh club. If an athlete is not Welsh eligible, they will only count as a member of their club team.

 

Registration
Registration (Race HQ) will open at 9:30 on race morning and will be situated near the finish area as indicated on the course map.
Team Manager’s will need to collect race numbers where possible. This should be done at least 40 minutes before each race starts.

THERE ARE NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY

 

The Races
The first race will be at 11:00 using a winding / technical course over mixed terrain and that is undulating in places.

 

Team size and scoring is as follows;

Primary Challenge Races
School years 5 & 6 (9yrs and over) with 4 to score in the team event.

 

Welsh Championship Races
U13 – U20: 4 to score
Senior Men: 6 to score
Senior Women: 4 to score
Master men and Women: 3 to score

 

Run Wales Winter Relay

Starting at 10am, before the Welsh championships start, this is a fun relay for teams of 3. The event is for anybody who wants to try something fun, social and incredibly enjoyable, with team members completing approximately 2 miles each. Teams can be male, female or mixed and you don’t have to be members of a club. The emphasis for this event is to have fun.

Presentations
Presentations will be made alongside Race HQ as soon as possible following each race. Where possible presentations will be made for all categories on the day as follows;

 

Primary Races: 1st, 2nd, 3rd individuals and winning teams

Welsh Championships: 1st, 2nd, 3rd individuals / 1st, 2nd, 3rd teams


Primary Challenge Races
There is one race for boys, and one for girls, both 1,550m and at 13:10 and 13:25 respectively.

ALL Entries must be made in advance and will close at Midday on Friday 14th February.
No Entries will be taken on race morning.
