South and East Wales Regional Championships - CANCELLED
DUE TO THE CURRENT CLIMATE WITH CORONAVIRUS ORGANISERS HAVE TAKEN THE DIFFICULT DECISION TO CANCEL THESE CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Joint East and South Wales Regional Championships 2020
In light of the statement issued by Welsh Athletics (17/3/2020) regarding the Coronavirus pandemic that all organised athletics activity is suspended until the end of April. The Officers of both East and South Regional Athletics Council have decided to cancel this year’s Joint regional Track and Field Championships, due to be held at Ron Jones Stadium, Aberdare on Saturday 9th May 2020.
This decision has not been taken lightly. We feel we have a duty of care to our athletes, officials and potential spectators. As WA have advocated that clubs and groups should not undertake training, we are of the opinion that it would be unfair to athletes to expect them to go straight into a competition without training for it.
WA have stated that they will endeavour to keep everyone fully updated, albeit the situation is changing on a continuous basis.
The regions also undertake to keep our members fully updated via posts on websites and social media.
