IAU 50km World Championships, 5 November
Two Welsh Athletes headed to Hyderabad, India to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the IAU 50km World Championships.
Anna Bracegirdle (Salford Harriers) took gold as part of the women’s team, finishing in a time of 3:20:37 to help secure victory for the team.
While, Andrew Davies (Stockport) was the fastest British male finishing in 2:57:14 to help lead the men’s team to the bronze medal.
Welsh Athletics & Welsh Schools Joint Indoor Combined Events, 5 November
It was a great day on Sunday at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff for the Welsh Athletics and Welsh Schools Joint Indoor Combined Events.
In the U14 (Year 7,8 & 9) Quad, Lily Parsons (Cardiff Athletics) took victory with a total of 1945 points, while Aaron Campbell (Ysgol Dyffryn Aman) took victory in the boy’s event with 1343 points.
There was victory for Deeside AAC in the U16 (Year 9 & 10) girls and boys pentathlon. U15 Triple Jump Welsh record holder, Olivia Scrimshaw (Deeside) claimed first with 3227 points and Toby Lemon (Deeside) took victory with 2576 points.
In the U18 (Year 11 & 12) event, Matilda Quick (Swansea Harriers) took victory with 3560 points in the girl’s event, and U18 long jump Welsh record holder Luca Phillips (Cardiff Archers) won the boy’s event with 3514 points.
Richard Burton 10K, 5 November
The Richard Burton 10k returned on Sunday. After taking third at the Eryri Marathon last weekend, Caryl Edwards (Swansea Harriers) took victory in the women’s race with a time of 35:47. Olivia Tsim (Pontypridd Roadents) took second with a time of 36:57, and Hannah Williams (Swansea Harriers) completed the top three with a time of 38:19.
Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) took victory in the men’s race finishing in 30:10, second across the finish line was Michael Ward (Cardiff AAC) 31:02 and Jonathan Hopkins (Swansea Harriers) completed the podium positions in a time of 31:40.
Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, 3 November
There was a double Welsh victory at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee on Friday.
In the senior women’s 6K cross country Ellen Kearney (Warriors/Milligan College) took victory in 20:56. And Bryn Woodall (Colwyn Bay/Milligan College) took victory in the senior men’s 8k cross country with a time of 24:04.
