WMRA International U18 Cup, 28 May
In sunny France there was great performances for the Welsh teams at the WMRA International U18 Cup in Annecy. Both the male and female teams finished in seventh position our of 12 teams competing. Iwan Thomas (Carmarthen & District Harriers) had a great competition finishing eighth overall.
Trail de Guerledan including the Celtic Challenge, 27 & 28 May
It was very warm conditions for the Welsh team competing at the Trail de Guerledan in Brittany on the weekend.
In the 26km race Ollie George (Sarn Helen) finished 15th overall and second in the junior male race with a time of 2:12:45. In the women’s race, Ffion Price (Builth & District Runners) was the sixth female athlete across the finish line and third senior woman with a time of 2:36:00, followed home by Katie Reynolds (Eryri Harriers) in eight with 2:41:09.
A very tough 65k trail ultra for Welsh athletes Daniel Rothwell (Swansea Harriers) and Sanna Duthie (Amman Valley Harriers). There were great performances from both athletes, around 1,000 runners started the event, with Rothwell finishing 23rd overall in 6:58:35 and Duthie finishing fourth and first F/35 in a time of 7:51:4.

England Athletics Combined Events, 27 & 28 May
It was a weekend of personal bests in Manchester at the England Athletics Combined Events, which also incorporated the Welsh Championships.
Lauren Evans (Cardiff AAC) was crowned the Welsh Senior Women Heptathlon Champion, completing the weekend with personal bests in 200, long jump, 800m and a points PB. Evans finished third overall in both the England Championships and BUCS Championships.
Fellow programme athlete Grace Morgan (Cardiff Archers) also had a successful championship, taking home four personal bests which sees her go tenth in the Wales All-Time heptathlon list. Morgan finished second in the Welsh Senior Championships, sixth in the England Championships, fourth in the BUCS Championships, and finished third in the U23 England Championships.
In the U20 England Championships, it was Jessica Lee’s (Carmarthen & District Harriers) first time competing in that age category. Lee finished third overall in the England Championships with a points personal best of 4729 an improvement of 73 points than her U17 heptathlon personal best. Lee took the Welsh U20 title, with a further three personal bests in the 100m hurdles, high jump and 800m.
Ben Hillman (Cardiff AAC) was in action in the Senior Men Decathlon, his first time competing in the event. Hillman claimed the Welsh title with 5872 points and finished 16th in the England Championships.
YDL Upper 2 (South/West Premiere & Division 1), 28 May
Long jumper Ben Parker (Aberdare Valley) was in action after representing Wales at the Loughborough International last weekend. Parker jumped a distance of 7.01m.
It was a successful day of competing for Luca Phillips (Cardiff Archers) picking up personal bests in 100m, 200m and triple jump, which sees him go top of the U17 UK triple jump rankings for 2023 with a distance of 13.96m.
2023 WANDA Rabat Diamond League, 28 May
Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff AAC) was in action in the 100m, clocking a time of 10.20 seconds to finish seventh.
