Sad news of the passing of Ron Freeman

Welsh Atletics has recently heard the sad news of the passing of Ron Freeman.
Ron was one of a small band of technical officials from England who regularly supported Track & Field competitions in Wales. He first became involved during the seventies when he offered his services to Newport Harriers and clubs within East Wales.

By the late seventies he had become a regular member of a team of Welsh AthleticsField Officials who officiated at Welsh leagues, championship,representative and international events. In addition, he also supported Welsh Schools cup competitions, championship and international events. Ron officially registered on the Welsh Officials list in 1992.
As a long standing member of the Gloucester Athletics Club he was also actively involved as a Technical Official for his club and within the regions of England..
Ron served athletics in Wales for over thirty five years and will be remembered as a 'team player' who was prepared to travel to different parts of the principality to support our sport. Our belated condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.
