It is with regret that Welsh Athletics have decided to postpone the Welsh Athletics Officials Conference 2020 due to Coronavirus Health Guidelines and Advice. This was an extremely difficult decision however, based upon the guidance provided by government surrounding the virus, and with the government recently updating the risk from low to moderate, we felt that it was in the best interest to the health and safety of our Officials which is always our top priority. 

We are committed to the development of Welsh Athletics Officials and will find alternative methods for your continued development. The final section of the day was to allow Officials to have their say around Officiating and Competition in Wales. Within the coming weeks, we will be sending out a survey to gather feedback to gain your insights which are of extreme importance to the way we operate.

We will look to reschedule the conference to a date that is safe for our Officials whilst not clashing with the busy competition season and will keep in touch with any progressions.

On Sunday 15th March the Cardiff Metropolitan University Cyncoed Campus, will host the Welsh Athletics Officials Conference.

With an array of expert speakers to discuss in depth the different factors surrounding athletics competition environments. The conference is promising to be both a motivating and very informative day.

The day will begin with the presentation of the new Welsh Athletics Strategy ‘The Next Seven Years’. Followed by a Commonwealth Medallist speaking about how officials make athletics events possible in all levels of competition. Leading into an interesting talk about the current equality climate of Athletics in Wales.  Closing the morning with a presentation from the East Region Endurance Official representative who has crossed the barrier from Endurance to Track and Field.

Full Timetable

In the afternoon the group will split to attend specific topics around Endurance or Track and Field. Endurance will be covering areas to road race organisation, volunteer workforce and risk assessment. Track and Field will provide an update from the Junior Athlete Voice, a presentation on the virtial league structure and a call room workshop.
