The first of the ever-popular #RunWithTheWind Sprints Series took place in Cardiff on Wednesday 5th May and despite the cold & wet weather, athletes were still keen to show their support for the event. Jeremiah Azu (Helen James) took the win in the 100m with 10.52 with Hannah Brier (Matt Elias) the fastest female on the day over the distance in 12.06. Dan Beadsley (Dave Norton) produced a fantastic run to take the 200m win in a wind-legal personal best of 21.28 with promising junior Caitlyn Mapps (Phil Warwicker) producing her fastest ever wind-assisted time over the distance of 24.31. Daniel Cork (Malcolm Wallace) took the victory in the Shot Put with a personal best distance of 16.85m and Northern Ireland International Adam McMullen produced a post-achilles operation best performance of 7.53w in the Long Jump. Welsh Record holder Rebecca Chapman continued her return to form this season with a jump of 6.05m in tough conditions.

Head of competitions Rhiannon Linington-Payne had this to say:

"It was great to welcome athletes back to this ever-popular format of competition after such a long time away from the track for so many. The level of support was fantastic despite the conditions! My thanks to the dedicated team of officials there last night who ran the competition so smoothly. We look forward to better, warmer conditions for our athletes and officials very soon!"
