WELSH ATHLETICS MODERNISATION & DEVELOPMENT 2025/26 FUND OPEN

We’re pleased to announce that the Modernisation & Development Fund for 2025-26 is now open for applications! This fund is designed to give clubs & associations a boost and to support activities that increase engagement as well as developing a thriving infrastructure and workforce.
We welcome applications from our affiliated clubs (for grants of up to £2,000), Regional Athletics Councils and School Districts (for grants of up to £1,000).
Applications that align with the supporting athletics across Wales, with a focus on increasing engagement and growth of the sport or club, will be given higher priority. We are particularly keen to support projects aimed at increasing participation among underrepresented groups, such as initiatives to grow membership in junior age categories.
The application form and guidance notes below outline the eligibility criteria and provide an overview of how grants can be used. While projects should include an element of development or modernisation, the examples provided are not exhaustive, and creative and innovative ideas are both welcome and encouraged!

The deadline for applications is midday on Saturday 31st January 2026. Completed applications as well as any supporting documentation should be emailed to Zoe Holloway with the subject line ‘Modernisation & Development Grant 2025-26’. The Grants Panel will consider and decide on all applications after the closing date and applicants will be notified mid-February.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Welsh Athletics team for advice on completing the application or for further guidance on eligible funding. If you have previously received a grant through this fund, you must complete and submit a ‘Project Completion Report’ (if you haven’t already done so) before applying for funding in this round.
