Welsh Athletics looks to support more clubs and groups in Wales through 2021. . .

Over the last few weeks, Welsh Athletics has launched a number of ways in which it pledges to support clubs and groups across Wales during early 2021. There are lots of ways the athletics & running community can get involved. Here’s a handy recap of all the activities available for clubs and our members:
Run Wales #FromMyDoor Campaign
Whether you walk, jog or run, it all starts #FromMyDoor for more information on how to take part in the social running campaign that is sweeping the nation click here.
Club Development Webinar Series
A series of free webinars will take place over the next few months, covering topics such as how to ensure your club is following best practice when it comes to governance, marketing your club effectively, and how to set up a virtual competition for your members plus many more! These sessions will be ‘bitesize’ and will offer an introduction to each of the topics, hoping to inspire clubs to remain productive and positive throughout this lockdown period.

At the end of 2020, we announced the Welsh Athletics Award Winners, amongst them the prestigious awards that go to members of our community who work tirelessly to support our sport. Over the next few months, we will be catching up with the award winners and hearing more about what they do, through a series of ‘In Conversation with’ videos and articles. Unite Virtual Conference Series
The Welsh Athletics and Run Wales #Unite Conference Series take place over March and April. The conference weekend is usually a highlight in the Welsh Athletics / Run Wales calendar, connecting our communities through learning and celebration, and we will be bringing this to our virtual series that promises to offer something for everyone. It will offer our members the opportunity to share good practice, learn something new and connect with others from across the various disciplines of our sport – all from the comfort of your home! Friday 5th and Saturday 6th March – Run Wales Festival
Sunday 7th March – Officials & Volunteers
Saturday 13th March – Clubs
Saturday 27th March - Youth Development Conference (for coaches delivering from fundamental to foundation event group athletics)
Sunday 28th March – Run Leaders
Friday 9th April – Athletics for Schools
2021 Modernisation and Development Fund is Launched
The fund has been launched to support athletics activity across Wales during this time, and applications that are looking to support an increase in; engagement, interaction, and support for its members will be given the highest priority.
Closing date: Friday 26th February 2021.
