Weekend Roundup: Cardiff U20 Girls Break 4x100m Club Record

IAAF Diamond League, Birmingham – August 18
Jake Heyward ran in a competitive 1500m, finishing 12th in 3:43.72.
Rhys Jones finished 2nd in the T35-38 100m, with the quick time of 11.84.
In the women’s T35-38 100m, Olivia Breen finished 2nd in a highly competitive last few metres, clocking a time of 13.28
The event also included Junior 4x100m relay races. Cardiff AC took a strong team up to compete across the relay races. In the U13 races the boy’s team finished 2nd in 52.11.
In the U15 races, the girl’s team finished 2nd in 51.05 and the boys team finished 5th in 50.24. The U17M finished in 2nd clocking 43.45 which is a new club record for the Cardiff boys.
The best performance was saved for last with the U20W finishing 1st and running a new club record for Cardiff AC.
St Clears 10km, St Clears – August 18
The TROT’s St Clears took place on Sunday with over 150 runners taking part.
Pembrokeshire Harriers’ John Collier was the first man home in 35:28. Tenby Aces runner Edward Clements was the next Welshman home in 3rd, running 36:11.
In the women’s race, Elizabeth Tremlett of Carmarthen Harriers was the first home in 44:14. She was followed by Mel Holiday from the hosts TROTs in a time of 45:23.
Parc Cwm Darran, Bargoed – August 18
Yesterday, the Parc Cwm Darran 5 miler took place in Bargoed with Daniel Bodman of Aberdare Valley AAC taking the win in 27:33. Billy Hayton of Pontypridd Roadents AC was the next Welshman home in 3rd finishing in 28:47.
In the Women’s race, Parc Bryn Back RC runner Nicola Jukes crossed the line first in 32:37 she was then followed by clubmate Joanna Summerfield in 35:45.
Tywyn Race the Train, Talyllyn – August 17
Four races took place in Talyllyn last Saturday with runners of all ages getting involved.
Tynllwywyn Hen 3.5 – First man home was Sean Randle in 18:56 and the first Welsh women through the line was Bridgend AC runner Mari Higginson in 24:52
Dolgoh 5.5 – Carmarthen Harriers’ Scott Price was the first Welshman home in 2nd running 35:40. The first women home was Ffion Higginson finishing in 4th place, clocking 36:56.
Quarry 10K – Gethin Davies of Meirionnydd Running Club was the first Welshman home in 43:08. Bridgend AC runner Kau Higginson was the first Welsh women to get over the line, running 49:35.
Rotary 14 – Alexander Lanz of Meirionnydd Running Club crossed the line first in 01:22.26. In the women’s race, Chepstow Harriers’ Nikki Morgan took the win in 01:48.30
