Welsh Athletics Throws Pilot


It was a return to athletics in Wales as the first competition was hosted in Aderdare as two competitors from the 2014 Commonwealth Games (Gareth Winter & Curtis Mathews) returned to the shot put circle. Gareth won the competiton with 15.03m and Curtis came 2nd with 14.02m.

Adding to the throws performances was Nicolas Young who threw 39.33 in the Discus on 8th August in Stretford.

Welsh Athletics Track Pilot


On Sunday 16th August, it  was time for the track athletes to return for their competiton in Swansea. In the 100m it was a battle between the rising stars of welsh sprinting where Owain Lloyd Hughes & Jeremiah Azu took the starting line. 

Owain took the win in a blistering 10.32w +2.4 with Jeremiah in 2nd with 10.47w and Lemarl Frecklton 3rd in 10.66w.

Winter Olympian Mica Moore ran a SB of 11.96 +0.2

It was a fabulous season opener in Loughborough from the 400m specialist Joe Brier where opened his season in 46.55 in lane 8! He is showing great form after his performances indoors where he picked up silver in Glasgow at the British Championships.

Also in Loughborough, Josh Brown, Dewi Hammond and Makoye Kampengele (Welsh 100m silver medallist 2019) also went head to head in tough condtions running. Josh came 2nd in 10.77 -0.8, Dewi 3rd in 10.81 and Makoye 4th in 11.00.

There was also another incredible performance from a young talent - Nell Desir. The Cardiff Archer ran a welsh record* of 12.34 over the 100m in Worthing on the 11th August. She is on her way to becoming a Welsh sprinting star in the future. Credit to her coach Lisa Waddon for doing such great work with her.

Following these great sprinting performances, sprinter Dan Beadsley also ran a PB of 10.64 on the same day in Worthing, backing up his run of 10.52w +2.8 in Nuneaton on the 2nd.


Engadiner Sommerlauf Mountain Race

We now go overeas to Switzerland (St Moritz) on 16 August where mountain runner Andy Davies took the victory against 100 competitors.

Paddy Buckley Round

More distance racing results as we take a look at ultra runner Matthew Roberts who came 2nd at the Paddy Buckley Round and crossed thr finish line in 17:37:39 making him the fastest Welshman ever to complete the course.

City of Preston 10

Emily Kearney ran had a terrific race at the City of Preston 10 Mile Road Race (09/08/2020) where she smashed the course record with the fastest time in the UK in 56:33 ahead of Welsh and GB Marathon runner and former Olympian Tracy Barlow.

Paavo Nurmi Games

There was a stellar performances in Turku on 11 August where two welsh athletes competed.

Melissa Courtney Bryant came home in 1st place in a dominant performace over the 1500m running 4:03.69 extremely close to her PB of 4:03,44. Her splits were 2:11.70 for the first 800m and 3:16.66 through 1200. Truely top quality running!

Jonothan Hopkins then took to the track and had a strong performance over the 3000m SC running 8:42.28.

ChampionChip Ireland Running Series

Jenny Nesbitt ran a strong run out in Ireland (Lisburn) over the 5K running 16:10.86 for 2nd place on the 13th August.

BMC Gold Standard Races

There also was another PB for the man who is in incredible form at the moment - Osian Perrin who ran the 1500m. The U20 ran a swift 3:56.41 in Stretford (11 August).
