2025 APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE (AAC) WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP – KNOXVILLE TENNESSEE – NOVEMBER 7
Ellen-Mary Kearney (Milligan University) smashed the meeting record at the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Cross Country Championships in Tennessee on Friday.
Kearney’s winning time of 19:59.07 over 6K was also the fastest ever in the history of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
The victory brought Kearney her third AAC title in her four years at Milligan and helped the university to its sixth straight team title.
JOHN H. COLLINS GWENT LEAGUE – CARDIFF, NOVEMBER 8
The second Gwent League fixture of the 2025-26 season was once again incorporated into the Cardiff Cross Challenge event at Llandaff Fields.
A brilliant day’s racing featuring more than 2,000 runners was preceded by an immaculately observed two minutes silence ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
A 15th place finish overall amongst a high quality international field in the Cross Challenge senior men’s race also brought Dafydd Jones (Swansea Harriers) victory in the Gwent League Fixture.
Jones crossed the line in 29:23 to follow up his win in the first fixture at Margam Park. Felix McGrath (Bristol and West) was second in 29:56.
The senior women’s race was won by Rhiannon Paton (Westbury Harriers), who clocked 23:37 ahead of Georgia Palmer (Les Croupiers) in 23:37 and Lucy Williams (Parc Bryn Bach) in 23:40.
In the under-17/20 women’s race, the highest Welsh finisher was third placed Holly Humphries (Swansea Harriers) in 16:19, ahead of Bryony Boyce in 16:23 and Millie Gold (Swansea Harriers) in 16:31.
The under-17/20 men’s race was won by Alex Smart (Cardiff Athletics) in 17:03, with Benedict Simpson-Alexander (Cardiff Athletics) second in 17:07.
The under-15 girls race was won by Jos Hathway (Stroud and District) in 11:04 ahead of Aimee Porter (Swansea Harriers).
The winner of the boys race was Elliot Langley-Aybar (Bracknell AC) in 9:45 with Nate Greig (Bridgend Athletics) second in 9:52.
Alesha Santos (Rhondda AAC) was victorious in the under-13 girls race as she clocked 9:48.
There was a Cardiff clean sweep in the under-13 boys race where Jacob Moss led the way in 9:04, just ahead of Zac Munn, who posted the same time and Farley Prichard, who was third in 9:24.
The under-11 boys saw Arthur Lummins (Aberdare Valley) finish third in 4:51.
These are initial results. The complete league results and standings will be posted on the John H. Collins Gwent Cross Country League website in the middle of this week.
The next fixture will be held at Blaise Caste, Bristol, on Saturday, December 6.
ANGLESEY TRAIL HALF MARATHON AND 10K – NOVEMBER 9
The Anglesey Trail Half Marathon and 10km is set in the beautiful surroundings of Newborough Forest and Traeth Llanddwyn, Anglesey.
The course includes winding woodland trails which have hosted the Commonwealth Mountain and Ultra Distance Running Championships.
Winner of the men’s 10K was Frazer Slade, who crossed the line in 43:52 ahead of Grant Hudson in 44:56 and Kane Jones in 45:05.
The first female runner home in 46:03 was Catrin Donelly (Eryri Harriers), ahead of Olivia Bramwell in 46:15 and Pip Jones in 49:20.
The half marathon honours went to Steffan Sayer (Menai Track and Field) who crossed the line in 1:23.36. Deilo Roberts was second in 1:25.35 and Jago Onians in 1:26.24.
Dom Searle (Chesire Dragons) won the women’s race in 1:37.00 with Eleanor Ashcroft (Denbigh Harriers) second in 1:40.42 and Laura Jarman (Chorlton Runners) third in 1:41.58.
