BRECON CARREG CDF 10K – SEPTEMBER 7

Welsh Commonwealth Games marathoner Natasha Wilson (Micky Morris Racing Team) won the elite women’s race in Cardiff on Sunday morning.

The former Welsh marathon record holder clocked a new PB of 32:42 as she also claimed the women’s title in the R4W 10K series.

Wilson said afterwards:

I ran a PB today so I’m happy. I wanted to come here and break sub 33:00 and I did that.

It was a bit of a last-minute decision as I’ve got Copenhagen Half next week, so I wanted to run out today as prep and to give me a bit of confidence going into next week.

It’s always nice to come out to Cardiff as there’s a good group of guys who pull me through. It’s great to be back in the capital and racing in front of a Welsh crowd.

The Welsh Athletics Performance Programme athlete finished almost two minutes ahead of Olivia Tsim (Pontypridd Roadents), who crossed the line in 34:29. Samantha Antell (Bideford) was third in 35:49.

In the wheelchair event, National Development Programme athlete Owain Terrell (Newport Harriers) won in 30:48 despite experiencing a puncture to his chair.

He said:

It was a great race until about the 3rd or 4th kilometre when my tyre decided to go ‘no’ and just died. It was bad.

Despite that I enjoyed it and now I’m looking forward to the Cardiff Half in a couple of weeks’ time followed by the Swansea 10K and that’s me done for the rest of the year.

Second was Gareth Picken (Cheltenham and County Harriers) with Ron Price third.

The men’s elite race was won by Omar Ahmed (Birchfield Harriers) in 29:27. Like Wilson, the victory brought him success in the R4W 10K Series.

Ahmed said:

There was a good, supportive crowd out cheering which is why I always like running in Wales. I really like the CDF 10K, the course, the crowd and the organisation were beautiful.

Dan Nash (Pontypridd Roadents) was second in 30:08 with Daniel Hamilton (Pontypridd Roadents) third in 30:43.

This year’s event shared a finish line with the Tour of Britain cycling race, which saw Geraint Thomas bring the curtain down on his stellar career.

More than 7,800 runners were registered to take part in the 10K and supporting 2K race, making it the biggest ever Brecon Carreg CDF 10K.

The event was the final race in the 2025 R4W 10K Series which also featured the ABP Newport 10K, Barry Island 10K and Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K. Bundle entries into the 2026 R4W 10K Series will go live on Thursday, September 11.
