TROND MOHN GAMES – BERGEN, MAY 28
European Under-23 Championships silver medallist Justin Davies (Team Bath) finished third in the 800m in Norway, clocking a time of 1:46.62.
In the women’s 1500m, fellow GB representative Ava Lloyd (Wigan and District) finished third in the 1500m in 4:09.16.
IRENA SZEWINSKA MEMORIAL – BYDGOSZCZ, MAY 29
Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Melissa Courtney-Bryant (Poole AC) finished third over 1500m in 4:04.04 at the World Athletics Continental Tour meeting on Friday night in Poland.
In a large 800m field, Welsh Athletics Performance Programme athlete Issy Boffey (Enfield and Haringey AC) fell less than 200m from the line along with fellow GB international Jemma Reekie.
BRITISH MILERS CLUB BIRMINGHAM UNIVERSITY GRAND PRIX – MAY 30
There were a number of excellent performances by Welsh athletes at the BMC Grand Prix held at Birmingham University on Saturday.
In the men’s 800m C race, Under-23 athlete Louis Starr (Rugby and Northampton AC) dipped under the 1.50 mark for the first time as he finished fifth in 1.49.95.
The 800m G race, was won by Welsh Athletics National Development Programme Under-18 runner Lucas Salvage (Newport Harriers) in 1.51.72 - just outside the European Under-18 Championships qualifying time of 1.51.00.
Loughborough International 3000m winner Poppy Elton (Worcester/Leeds Beckett) was third in the women’s 1500m B race. The Under-23 athlete clocked a new personal best of 4.20.37.
In the women’s 1500m C race NDP Under-18 athlete Holly Humphreys (Swansea Harriers) was seventh in 4.30.90, one place behind former Welsh 3000m steeplechase record holder Kate Seary (Cardiff Athletics/Central Park TC) in 4.28.37.
Under 18 NDP athlete Rebeca Harries (Cardiff Athletics) celebrated a new PB of 4.34.01 as she finished third in the women’s 1500m E race.
The men’s 1500m E race saw Under-23 athlete Jack Small finish fourth in 3.50.90 U23 just ahead of Craig Williams (Newport Harriers) in fifth, running a new PB of 3.51.01.
In the steeplechases, Under-20 NDP athlete Millie Gold (Swansea Harriers) who competed for GB at the European Under Under 20 Championships, was fourth over 3,000m in 10.25.45. The World U20 qualifying time is 10.15.00.
Multiple Welsh age group champion Iwan Thomas (Carmarthen Harriers), who represented GB in steeple at the Euro U18s, was 12th in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase with a PB of 9.01.10. The World U20 qualifying time is 8.55.0.
TY GWYN ABERSOCH - MAY 30
The Ty Gwyn Abersoch 10K is firmly established as a favourite of many runners from around the UK with more than 1500 taking part.
The men’s race was won by Steffan Sayer (Menai Track and Field) in 35.09. Jack Bywater was second in 35:38 with Simon Currie third in 36:04.
Imogen Wharton was victorious in the women’s race where she led the field home in 40:42 ahead of Lydia Sharpe in 41:01 and Rebecca Rosalski in 41:48.
PHOENIX RUNNING MANTA RAY RUN 2026 – MAY 30
Participants were able to choose to run as many, or as few, laps as they wanted of a 5.3km,/3.28 mile, out and back, course through Parc Taf Bargoed.
Walkers and runners were welcome to complete one lap or to see how far they could go within the full seven hour time limit.
RACK RAID – MAY 30
The Rack Raid is an all-day road running relay race consisting of 14 stages established by Fairwater Runners Cwmbran in 1993.
The event starts in the village of Grosmont, finishes in Cwmbran and covers over 100 miles, travelling around the picturesque countryside of the former county of Gwent, visiting towns and villages with noted historical sites.
The event is contested by a limit of 30 teams from clubs across Wales, represented by more than 400 runners.
This year’s provisional winners are Parc Bryn Bach, who completed the course in 11:19:24. Chepstow A were second in 11:41:28 with Neath third in 12:13.39.

THE PICKERING MEMORIAL INTERNATIONAL – LOUGHBOROUGH, MAY 31
An exciting young Welsh representative team travelled to Loughborough to take part in the Pickering Memorial Thows International.
The event was established in memory of the Pickering family, particularly Welsh international shot, discus and hammer thrower Shaun Pickering – son of former Welsh national athletics coach and broadcaster Ron Pickering.
Shaun Pickering, who passed away in May 2023, was a Commonwealth Games shot put bronze medallist for Wales and an Olympian for Great Britain, who went on to work with the Ron Pickering Foundation, established in his father’s memory.
Pickering also became a coach and advocate of the sport whose passion was to elevate the recognition and standard of throws in the UK.
There was an excellent win in the women’s discus for Welsh Athletics National Development Programme thrower Lucy Harris (Swansea Harriers). The Under-23 athlete throwing 46.00m to take the honours.
Under-18 athlete Ava John (Cardiff Athletics) was sixth with a season’s best 31.27m, with fellow Under-18 Annabelle Rose Jones (Wrexham AAC) seventh in 27.61m and Under-20 F63 thrower Mia Jane Lloyd (Cardiff Archers) eighth with 15.71m.
There was another Welsh victory in the women’s hammer where fellow NDP thrower Amelia Fettis (Newport Harriers) outdistanced the rest of the field with a best of 59.05m.
Also climbing to the top step of the podium was Under-18 NDP athlete William Richards-Baldwin (Cheltenham Harriers) who produced a 5Kg PB of 17.58m to win the men’s shot put.
Under-20 athlete Owen Garrett (Yate and District AC) was sixth, throwing the 6kg shot out to 14.05m.
F56 thrower Ellie Bowen (Cardiff Archers) also struck Welsh gold in the seated shot put where her winning distance was a season’s best 6.40m.
In the men’s seated shot, NDP thrower Jac Sheehan (Carmarthen Harriers) helped himself to a new PB of 8.60m to finish second.
World Para Athletics Championships medallist and Welsh Athletics Transition Programme Under-23 athlete Michael Jenkins (Swansea Harriers) threw a new 2kg personal best of 57.80m as he finished third overall in the men’s discus with 57.80m. Garrett was eighth with a best of 49.94m with the 1.75kg discus.
Meanwhile, Under-18 athlete Deacon Evans (Cardiff Athletics) and Richards-Baldwin finished ninth and tenth with distances of 48.51m and 47.08m respectively with the 1.5kg implement.
Evans also finished third in the men’s hammer with a 5kg personal best of 55.06m, while Gethin Brown (Deeside AAC) was second with a best of 61.16m.
There was a fourth place finish in the women’s shot for Grace Hawker (Cardiff Archers) thanks to a new PB of 14:65. Cerys Aboagye (Croydon Harriers) was seventh in 12.68m.
AJ BELL GREAT MANCHESTER RUN – MAY 31
Clara Evans-Graham (Pontypridd Roadents) won bronze at the UK Athletics 10k Road Championships in Manchester on Sunday.
The race was run as part of the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run, where Olympic marathoner and Welsh Athletics Performance Programme athlete Evans-Graham finished fifth overall in a high class international elite field.
The Welsh marathon record holder crossed the line in 32.34 – the third British athlete to finish – giving her the UK bronze medal.
In the men’s race, Great Britain cross country international Dafydd Jones (Swansea Harriers) finished 26th overall in 29:22.
MATTONI CESKE BUDEJOVIVE HALF MARATHON – MAY 31
Natasha Wilson (Mickey Morris Racing Club) continued her build up to representing Great Britain at the European Athletics Championships in August by finishing second in the Czech Republic clocking 72:33.
GRAN PREMIO INTERNACIONAL MADRID MARCHA – MAY 31
Two young Welsh athletes competed at the World Athletics Race Walking Tour event in Spain on Sunday.
Under-14 race walker Spencer Jones (Wrexham AAC) clocked 16:12 over 3K, while Under-12 Ellis Jones (Wrexham AC) competed the 2K race in 13:32.
