BMC GRAND PRIX – BIRMINGHAM (WORLD ATHLETICS CHALLENGE) & BIRMINGHAM TRACK AND FIELD FESTIVAL, 29/30 JULY
A mix of weather dawned on the Birmingham University track for their annual T&F Festival which included a BMC Grand Prix. With the recent addition of Wavelight technology, plenty of personal bests were on the line...
Hannah Brier (Swansea Harriers) stormed to a new personal best of 53:59 in the third of the 400m races. This was the fastest of the women’s times overall.
Beth Kidger (Brighton Phoenix) finished an impressive third in the women’s 3,000m, skimming split seconds of her lifetime best to set the new mark at 9:06.29. Jenny Nesbitt (Pontypridd Roadents AC) also returned to racing here, finishing sixth in 9:13.72.
Osian Perrin (Menai AC) committed himself in the men’s 3,000m race, taking an early lead before fading to fifth amongst a classy field, finishing in 7:56.58.
James Heneghan (Pontypridd Roadents AC) was 11th in the 1500m with a time of 3:49.69.
#TRUEATHLETES CLASSICS, 29 JULY
Over in Germany Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff Athletics) runs another storming 100m narrowly missing his own Welsh record with a time of 10.07 for second place.
Joe Brier (Swansea Harriers) continued his form in a mixed relay with a time of 3:14.22 to take the win.
MAGOR 10K, 29 JULY
300 runners took to the country lanes in Undy to compete in the Magor 10k. Matt Rees (Swansea Harriers) took the win in a time of 31:55, closely followed by Sam Richards (Pontypridd Roadents AC) in 32:08 and Andy Raynor (Forest of Dean AC) in 34:04.
Antoinette Dumayne (Lliswerry Runners) was the first female home in 37:36, narrowing missing her personal best of 37:32 set at Treforest 10k in May this year. Emily Fell (CDF Runners) came in second in 38:27 followed by Les Croupiers Louise Flynn in 38:51.
Les Croupiers RC also took the win in the men's team results whilst Pontypridd Roadents AC won the ladies' team.
WORLD ATHLETICS CONTINENTAL TOUR - LOUGHBOROUGH EAP, 29 JULY
Tom Wilcock (Northhampton AC) travelled to Loughborough this weekend to compete in the World Athletics Continental Tour and placed third in men's 110m hurdles in a time of 13:95.
