Dublin Marathon, Dublin – October 27

Natasha Cockram (MMRT) ran a fabulous race to finish in 5th place in a stunning 2:30.49!! breaking the Welsh Marathon record  held by Susan Tooby at 2:31.33 from Seoul, Korea in 1988. 

 

Leeds Abbey Dash 10K – September 27

In the Women’s team, Charlotte Arter (Cardiff Athletics)  ran an impressive race to win the 10K in 31:35, smashing the Welsh record, putting her 4th on the UK all-time list and 5th in Europe in 2019. Clara Evans (Cardiff Athletics) finished in the top 10, running 33:18 and Sophie Harris (Swansea Harriers) finished 28th in 35:10.

A large squad of Welsh athletes had made the journey to Leeds to take on the 10K challenge yesterday including a team competing on behalf of Wales:

  • Ciaran Lewis (Cardiff Athletics), Jonathon Hopkins (Swansea Harriers), Kris Jones (Swansea Harriers) and James Hunt (Cardiff Athletics) in the Men’s team and Sophie Harris, Charlotte Arter and Clara Evans on the Women’s team.

All 4 Men ran sub-30 with Kris Jones running an excellent race and just finishing outside the top 3 in 4th place, running a new pb in 28:48. James Hunt finished 10th place in 29:10 and Jonathon Hopkins finished 16th in 29:30. Carian Lewis followed them finishing in 20th place in 29:38

Other strong performances were from Jonathon Tobin from Swansea Harriers, finishing in 30:23. Lauren Cooper of Parc Bryn Bach had a good race finishing in 34:32. She was followed by Cardiff Athletics runner Lucy Marland who finished in 34:36

Snowdonia Marathon Eryri, Snowdon – September 26

The iconic and demanding Snowdon Marathon took place over the weekend proving as popular as ever with athletes and supporters. The race was won by Callum Rowlinson in 2.34.14 and first Welshman home was Martin Green in 2:41.18. He was followed by Samuel Gregory from Aberdare VAAC in 2:46.11. In the Women’s race, local runner Andrea Rowlands took the win in 3:09.18, just ahead of Anna Bracegirdle of Menai T&F in 3:09.54.

Halloween Porth Eirias 10K, Porth Eirias – September 26

The first Welshman home was Dylan Griffith in 34:50, followed by Harri Jackson in 38:38.  In the Women’s race, Helen Davies took the win in 41:30 followed by North wales Road Runner Carla Green in 43:37.
