TCS London Marathon, 23 April
Welsh road runners took to the streets of London on Sunday, as the London Marathon returned to it’s April slot.
In his first marathon Stephen Morris set a new T20 British Record, finishing under the 3-hour mark with a time of 2:59:06.
In the Men’s elite race Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) completed the marathon in 2:16:51.
In the Mass race, Emily Marchant (Swansea Harriers) was the first Welsh female athlete home finishing in 2:47:09. In the men’s race, Tomos Roberts (Meirionnydd Running Club) was the first Welshman home in 2:26:13.
The event also incorporated the Welsh Marathon Championships where in the women's marathon, Emily Marchant (Swansea Harriers) is the 2023 Welsh Marathon Champion with a time of 2:47:09. Louise Flynn (Les Croupiers) finished in silver position with a time of 2:49:49 and Tracey Rogers (Buckley Runners) completed the podium poisition with a time of 2:57:59.
In the men's marathon Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) secured his second Welsh Mararthon title completing the 26.2 mile course with a time of 2:16:51. Tomos Roberts (Meirionnydd Running Club) finished second in 2:26:13. And in third was Matthew Edwards (Cardiff Athletics) with a time of 2:27:54.
TCS London Mini Marathon, 22 April
It was a great day for Wales at the London Mini Marathon for the British Athletics Road Challenge.
There were strong performances in the U13 races. In the U13 girls race, Bryony Boyce (Cardiff Athletics) finished within the top 10 in 7th. Finlay Burns (Cardiff Athletics) also finished within the top 10 in 6th place with a time of 8:20.
In the U15 races, Millie Gold (Cardiff Athletics) finished in 2nd place with a time of 8:33 in the U15 girls race. In the boys race, Joshua Sanders (Cardiff Athletics) was the first Welshman home in a time of 8:03.
Mali McDuff was the first Welsh athlete across the line in theU17 girls race completing the course in 9:14. In the U17 boys race Aled Breeze (Maldwyn Harriers) was first home with 7:49.
In the overall team standings, there was a silver medal for the U13 boys team.
Warsaw Race Walking Cup, 23 April
On Sunday in Warsaw Heather Warner (Pembrokeshire Harriers) went top of the UK rankings for 2023 with 1:36:04 for 9th in the 20k race.. Bethan Davies (Cardiff Athletics) completed the 20k in 1:39:38.
In the U20 10k race Gracie Griffiths (Pembrokeshire Harriers) finished in 4th with a time of 53:30.
Crimson Tide Invitational, 21 April
In Alabama, Amber Simpson (Wrexham / Memphis) broke another Welsh record this time in the hammer, finishing in 4th with a throw of 67.11m.
