ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K, 16 April

In the Marathon Dan Nash (Cardiff Athletics) was victorious completing the course in 2:19:46, the first sub 2:20 performance set in South Wales since 1986. In the Women’s Half Marathon race Lizzie Diamond (Lliswerry Runners) was the first over the finish line with a time of 2:49:36. Richie Powell (DSW) claimed the wheelchair title, despite suffering a puncture on mile seven.

To kick start the Welsh 10K Road Series, Natasha Cockram (Micky Morris Racing Team) finished first in the women’s 10K, with Michael Ward (Cardiff Athletics) finishing in third to claim the maximum Welsh points.

Coventry Spring Meet, 14 – 16 April

It was a great weekend for Welsh Athletes in Coventry, with a 10 new Personal Bests and a new European Record!

In the Men's Ambulant Discus, Michael Jenkins (Pembrokeshire Harriers) claimed a new European Record with a distance of  50.02m, Jenkins also took victory in the Ambulant Shot Put with a distance 14:46m.

In the Women's Ambulant Shot, it was a Welsh Gold and Silver. With Sabrina Fortune (Deeside AAC) taking first with a distance of 13:49m. Funmi Oduwaiye (DSW Para Academy) got her season underway claiming silver, a new Personal Best and World Lead with a distance of 10.86m.

Oduwaiye (DSW Para Academy) took gold in the Ambulant Discus with a distance of 30.09m. Mia Lloyd (DSW Para Academy) threw a distance of 9.49m.

Kieran Jones (DSW Para Academy) claimed a new Personal Best in the seated shot with a distance of 7.96m.

Tomi Roberts-Jones (DSW Para Academy) continued a great start to the outdoors season, with a distance of 8.84 (+0.4) in the Ambulant Long Jump.

In the ambulant 100m Corey Brown (DSW Para Academy) finished 1st in the C Final and Amirah Peckham (DSW Para Academy) finished in 3rd in the B Final with a new Personal Best . Whilst in the ambulant 400m A Final, John Bridge (Cardiff Met) finished 3rd.

RESULTS


Crawley 24

Gareth Pritchard (Vegan Runners) won the Crawley 24 hour track race with 257.926 km. It was a personal track PB by 20 km and PB on any surface by 11 km.

It was a new Welsh record (on any surface) beating John Pares 252.548 km set at Brive in 2010.


ERRA National Road Relays 2023, 15 April

The ERRA National Road Relays took place at Sutton Park in Birmingham on Saturday. The event takes place over 12 stages for men and six stages for women.

Swansea Harriers was the first Welsh team to finish in the men's race, finishing just outside of the podium position in fourth. Kristian Jones ran the third fastest long stage of the day overall.  Pontypridd Roadents were next across the finish line, finishing in 30th and Les Croupiers followed them home in 36th.

In the Women's National Six Stage Swansea Harriers finished within the top 10, finishing in seventh position.
