NCAA DIVISION MID-ATLANTIC REGION CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS – BETHLEHEM, PENSYLVANIA, NOVEMBER 14

Gwenno Goode (Cardiff Athletics/LaSalle University) qualified for the NCAA National Championship and received All-Region honours following her performance at the Mid-Atlantic Regional cross country meet.

Goode ran the 6k event in a time of 20:01.4 for 17th place. Her time sealed her the last individual qualifying spot, which are given to the top four runners that are not part of one of the qualified teams in the championship race.

Goode will compete in the NCAA National Championship meet on Saturday, November 22.

Joining Goode on Saturday is Cardiff Athletics athlete Nia Clatworthy, who claimed an automatic qualifying spot with her team, the University of Tennessee.

ZEVENHEUVELENLOOP (SEVEN HILLS 15K RACE) – NIJMEGEN, NETHERLANDS, NOVEMBER 16

Paris Olympian Clara Evans (Pontypridd Roadents) broke her own Welsh 15K record in the Netherlands on Saturday.

Evans finished seventh overall and was the third European across the line in a strong international field, which was led home by Asmarech Anley (Ethiopia) in 47:05.

Welsh marathon record holder Evans crossed the line in 49:22 to comfortable beat her own Welsh record of 51:52, which was set as a split time during the Valencia Marathon in 2023.

Eilish McCoglan was the first British finisher and first European home in a new British record of 47:12.

CONWY HALF MARATHON – NOVEMBER 16

World athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games marathoner Andy Davies (Maldwyn Harriers) won the Conwy Half Marathon on Sunday.

Davies, who represented Great Britain at the 2017 World Championships in London and Wales at two Commonwealth Games – Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018, crossed the line in front of the 700-year-old Conwy Castle in 1:08.56.

The 45-49 age group athlete, who has won a gold medal at the World Masters Mountain Running Championships, finished more than four minutes ahead of the rest of the field.

Second place went to Harry Lupton (Liverpool Harriers) in 1:13.00, while Matthew Crehan (St Helens) was third in 1:13.57.

The first female finisher, in 24th overall, was Alice Johnston (Les Croupiers) who clocked 1:20.39. The next woman home was fellow Les Croupiers athlete Emily Jones in 1:22.05. Lorna Young (New Brighton) was third in 1:22.22.

The event, voted in the top 5 most scenic Half Marathons in the UK by Readers of Runners World, attracted more than 4,000 participants. The route, which started at the historic castle passed a number of landmarks such as Llandudno Pier, the Great Orme and Puffin Island before returning to the finish in Conwy.

RUN THROUGH ALTON TOWERS HALF MARATHON AND 5K – NOVEMBER 16

Michael Roderick (Tri Hard Harriers) won the half marathon at Alton Towers on Sunday.

The Welsh V35 athlete claimed the win in 1:13.01 ahead of Adam Theaker (Loftus and Whitby AC).

In the women’s 5K race, Welsh under-20 athlete Lily Williams (Celtic Tri) finished fourth in 19:55.

SRR MT10 2025 – SOSPAN ROAD RUNNERS MULTI TERRAIN 10 MILE – PEMBREY, NOVEMBER 16

The annual Multi-Terrain 10 was held at the picturesque Pembrey Country Park near Llanelli on Sunday morning.

The 10-mile course is run over an off-road trail through the park and also stretches along Cefn Sidan Beach, featuring a combination of soil and firm sand.

The men’s race was comfortably won by Joe Holt in 1:01.56, ahead of Martin Flear in 1:09.36 and Rhodri Morris in 1:11.33.

The women’s race was won by Joanna Callan, who also finished third overall, with a time of 1:11.07.

The second place female runner was Emma Seward in 1:16.07 with Catherine Marks third in 1:17.16.
