#Unite Network Workshop Series Launch
07/05/2021 00:00, I Mewn Blog /
In March of this year, to celebrate female coaches and leaders in our Sport in Wales, Welsh Athletics launched a positive action movement to champion and encourage more female coaches to get involved in coaching, and progress on their coaching journeys in Athletics.
Currently, we have 15 female coach ambassadors receiving mentoring support from our cohort of female performance coach mentors. In addition to this, we would like to congratulate the successful Coaching Assistant and Leader in Running Fitness applicants awarded funded support to undertake the next step in their coaching journey to become Athletics Coach or Coach in Running Fitness.

Over the next year, to create a sharing platform for our coach/leader community to come together and learn from each other’s experiences, we have shaped a series of 6 virtual workshop sessions that explore key themes, skills, and challenges that may have previously been or currently be, impacting on your coach or leader experience. Welsh Athletics is committed to supporting the long-term development of our leaders and coaches, and endeavor to take a holistic and person-centred approach to look after our community’s well-being and volunteer experience. After such an unprecedented year, it is perhaps more important than ever to manage energy levels, expectations and prioritise self-care.
For this reason, we are kicking off the series with a nod to Well-being, exploring what factors contribute to wellbeing and how to allow yourself the space to develop as a coach or leader.
