Tony Balmont Obituary & Funeral Details

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Tony Balmont on 10 June 2024 at the age of 84.
Tony was born in Penarth where he lived until moving to Llantwit Major in 1975. His foray into athletics started in 1980 when his children joined Barry & Vale Harriers. Tony became a well-respected Track Judge & Endurance Official, spending many weekends officiating either on the track or cross country, enjoying the banter with other officials and athletes alike. He used to look forward to his post-event McDonalds ice cream.
In January 2020 Tony was awarded the Welsh Athletics Meritorious Award for all the service and years spent as an official.
He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sadly missed by them all.
Funeral Details
Friday 28 June at 2pm at Barry Crematorium followed by Llantwit Major Rugby Club.
