We are thrilled to announce Commonwealth gold and Paralympic bronze medallist Olivia Breen, and Welsh record hammer thrower, Osian Jones, will be the Team Captains for Team Wales’ athletics contingent at this summer’s Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Welsh Athletics National Coach, Chris Jones commented:

“It is with great pleasure we award the Team Captain title to Olivia and Osian. Both athletes will be attending their third Commonwealth Games this summer and are in a perfect place to confidently lead the 23- strong team to success.”

Olivia Breen reacted:

“I could not be prouder to have been made Team Captain for Wales for the 2022 Commonwealth Games - what an honour! Whilst we are a small nation, I think this team has the ability to achieve some great results in Birmingham and I’m so excited to be a part of it.”

Osian Jones said:

“Its a real honour and privilege to be able to co-captain this young and exciting team. Feels rather surreal that my parents took me to watch the games in Manchester - 20 years ago - and now I’ll be going as captain to my third games in Birmingham. I'm incredibly proud to be Welsh and I cannot wait to see how well the team perform, especially after the success of the British Championships.”
