Spotlight on our Clubs - 2024 Award Winners

This year's Welsh Athletics and Run Wales Awards provided an opportunity to honor and celebrate the outstanding contributions and successes of our clubs, athletes and volunteers. There were three club awards up for grabs on the evening — here’s a summary of the winners.
Development Club of the Year
Lliswerry Runners claimed the award for Development Club of the Year. The club continues to go from strength to strength and has a growing membership of more than 500 athletes, making it the second-largest club in Wales.
This growth reflects not only the dedication of its members but also the club’s unwavering commitment to providing opportunities for athletes of all levels, from those just starting out on their running journey to highly competitive athletes looking to reach their full potential.
The ever-popular Lliswerry 8 continues to be a prominent feature in the fixture calendar, drawing in runners from across South Wales (and beyond!).

Junior Club of the Year
The Junior Club of the Year award went to Cardiff Archers, recognising the club’s continued dedication to the development of young athletes.
Based at the National Indoor Athletics Centre, the club offers both competitive and recreational opportunities for its expanding membership base, with diverse training programmes through squad, specialist, and development groups for young athletes eager to hone their skills and progress in the sport.
The club proudly competes in the Welsh Junior Development League as well as the UK Youth Development League (Upper and Lower Divisions). Additionally, the club organises a series of friendly Junior Open meetings, fostering a fun and supportive environment where younger members can engage in competitive athletics.

Club of the Year
Cardiff AC, Pontypridd Roadents and Swansea Harriers battled it out for the coveted Club of the Year award, and it was Wales’s largest club Swansea Harriers that took this year’s honours.
With a remarkable membership exceeding 600 registered athletes, supported by a dedicated army of coaches, leaders, officials, and volunteers, the club have consistently excelled across all disciplines and age groups.
On the track Swansea Harriers have produced some outstanding performances, including topping the Championship table in the National Athletics League, as well as dominating the podium positions at the recent Welsh Road Relay Championships with wins for the senior men’s and senior women’s teams among a host of impressive results.
Swansea Harriers won the award for Club of the Year.
