Reg Burke Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce, at the end of last week, Wrexham AC lost ex-President Reg Burke BEM. Reg was President from 2018 to 2023 and was made a life member of Wrexham in 2008.
Reg joined the club like many parents when his children started competing and he went onto become a very successful grade 3 coach and Team Manager for the club.
As a coach amongst his successful athletes were Welsh Commonwealth Games representatives Becky Jones, Laura Douglas, Leslie Brandon and Hannah Thomas. As Tram Manager Reg led the Wrexham women’s team to the Welsh League Division 1 title on a number of occasions and was Team Manager of the team that got to the GRE Plate Final in 1992.
Reg received a Welsh Athletics Meritorious Award in 2011 and was awarded a British Empire Medal in 1989. In 2006 he received the Development Coach of the Year award from Welsh Athletics.
Reg leaves his wife Marilyn, children David and Alisha along with his grandchildren.
