We’re pleased to announce that two new non-exec directors will join the Board of Welsh Athletics from 24th October.

Lynne Brier will bring years of experience as a coach, parent, and volunteer in the sport. As well as being mother to two of Wales’ top sprinters in Joe and Hannah, Lynne is a sprints coach with Swansea Harriers where she is also Club Chair, and has been secretary of the Track and Field committee since 2019. Lynne said:

"I've had a lifelong involvement in athletics and have a genuine love for the sport having competed from a child, right up to being a senior athlete. I have a whole range of perspectives of the sport to draw on, as well as years of experience as a Head Teacher, all of which i'm looking forward to contributing to the Board."

Taking up the portfolio for Performance on the Board will be Dr Dan Clements. A former International Swimmer, Dan has an extensive background in performance sport, having been the Head of Performance previously at Wales Rugby League and Welsh Hockey. Dan currently works for the Welsh Rugby Union as Performance Coach Manager, and this Summer was the Team Manager (with remit for Performance) with Team Wales at this Summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

“I’m delighted to have been able to secure the skills, experience, and knowledge that both Lynne and Dan will bring to our Board, and look forward to working with them as we continue to move the sport forward in line with our long term strategy."

As a result, he will move away from the current portfolio of Finance, Welsh Athletics will begin the recruitment for a new Non-Executive Director for Finance in the coming weeks.
