Insport Schools Resource

The partnership between Disability Sport Wales and Welsh Athletics continues to grow, as Welsh Athletics support DSW with a new insport schools resource.
Various NGBs and other organisations including; Disability Sport Wales, Welsh Athletics, Badminton Wales, Cardiff Met Active, The Urdd & Welsh Gymnastics worked collaboratively to develop the activity cards within the resource. The resources focus on inclusive activity in educations settings and have been developed as part of the insport Series Events.
The aim of the cards is to enable those who facilitate sport and physical education opportunities within the school (e.g. teachers, Learning Support Assistants Young Leaders, etc.) to deliver them inclusively, and with physical literacy in mind.
The content of the cards has been based on physical competency skills linked to improving pupils’ physical literacy, which moving forward will be an integral part of the new curriculum.
Included within the activity cards are instructions on how to set up the activities, what equipment is needed, how to adapt the activities for different impairment groups and the STEP Principle which can also support school staff in modifying components of a session.
The cards show several activities that can be used in a variety of environments within a school.
DSW are encouraging schools to register to download the resource for free here. The deadline for registering to download the resources is this Friday 9th July at 4 pm.
We look forward to working on further projects with Disability Sport Wales over the next year.
