Great Day for Welsh Masters at Trail Half Marathon International

It was a great day for Wales at the Autumn Forest of Dean Trail Half Marathon, which also incorporated the Masters Trail International between England and Wales. Welsh athletes won both the men's and women's races, while Wales also achieved a total of 23 top-three finishes, marking our best-ever performance in these Masters internationals.
Daniel Kashi (Meirionnydd RC), who made his Welsh senior debut in cross-country only last winter, claimed victory following a race-long tussle with Richard McDowell (England), who went on to win the M45 category. Gemma Moore (Eryri Harriers) also enjoyed a hard-fought battle for the women's title, holding off W50 athlete Carolyn Hay (England) by eight seconds.
In addition to Daniel and Gemma's age group victories, Jane Roscoe (Chepstow Harriers) won the W60 title, Lindy Geyer (Trots) claimed victory in the W65 category, Hywel Care (Liverpool Harriers) took the M40 win, Lee Aherne (Parc Bryn Bach) won the M60 age group, Dave Warren (Cardigan RC) won the M65 group, and William Daniels (Pontyclun RC) came out on top in the M70.
Wales completed a clean sweep of the M65 podium, with Rob Sheen (Leicester Coritanian AC), John Foster (Lliswery RC), and Roger Jones (Port Talbot Harriers) finishing second, third, and fourth respectively behind Dave Warren. Wales enjoyed similar success in the W60 category, where Sue Watson (Les Croupiers), Elaine Wharmby (Brackla Harriers), and Dawn Broom (Penistone Footpath Runners & AC) followed Jane Roscoe across the line.
Thanks go to Team Managers, Bernie and Caroline Jones, as well as the Rotary Club of the Forest of Dean for their support in making the event a success. Wales and England officials have confirmed that the Trail Half Marathon International will return to the Forest of Dean in 2027.
