Owen Smith & Job Brier battle to 4x400m Bronze in Torun
The Matt Elias coached duo joined up with Lee Thompson and James Williams to deliver a fantastic team performance at the end of a busy few days of action in Torun. The pair were delighted with their performances and will look forward to the summer all the more with the confidence they can take from this acheivement.

Absolute madness. Highlight of my athletics career to date and couldn’t of done it with a better group of lads! - What a race to be involved in. Indoor running at its finest, absolute battle!
Earlier in the week, Joe Brier had just missed out on an individual 400m semi-final place with a hard run 47.08 in his heat which was won by the Czech Republic's Pavel Maslek - a former World and European Champion.
Piers Copeland (Bob Smith) also had a great week, making it through the rounds to the final and coming home as first Brit in a very creditable 5th place clocking 3.39 in a strong men's 1500m which was won by Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
Callum Wilkinson breaks British 10,000m race walking record in Newport
Newport Stadium hosted one of the first outdoor athletics in Britain competitions of 2021 as a series of high-quality elite fields came together in a COVID secure environment to compete in the Discus, 10,000 metres, and 10,000m Race Walk.
Callum Wilkinson of Enfield & Haringey scored a dominant solo victory here to break his own national record by nearly 50 seconds, setting the new mark at 39:05.85. The mixed race walk followed two elite only 10,000m where Lily Partridge and Emile Cairess took the wins in 32.33 and 28.14 respectively ahead of some great performances from Welsh Athletes, including a big PB from Kris Jones of 28.33 - just 3 seconds outside the Commonwealth Qualification standard.
In the Discus, talented Welsh youngster James Tomlinson threw 51m36 with Decathlete Curtis Matthews posting 45m10. There were solid throws for Disability Sport Wales Athletes, Harrison Walsh and Zachary Tandy of 54m81 and 41m39 respectively.
