Day 2: Welsh Senior & U15 Indoor Championships

It was another busy day at the Welsh Senior & U15 Indoor Championships with more Welsh Records, Championship Records, and personal bests.

In the U15 Girls 3000m Bryony Boyce (Cardiff Athletics) smashed the Welsh Record by 17 seconds with a time of 10:23:64. Silver medallist in the race Amelia Williams (Carmarthen & District Harriers) also ran sub the previous record, crossing the finish line with 10:40:09.

                                                                 

Transition Programme athlete Grace Morgan (Cardiff Archers) jumped a personal best in the long jump with 5.62. But it was Rebecca Chapman (Cardiff Athletics) who claimed the Welsh Title, with a winning jump of 6.01.

It was a close finish in the U15 Girls 800m. It was Lois Codling (Newport Harriers) 2:13:42 who took gold and breaking the Welsh Record. Libby Hale (Swansea Harriers) claimed the silver medal, also running under the previous record.

                                                               

There were two new Championship Records on day two. Max Evans (Maldwyn Harriers) ran 23:10 in the U15 boys 200m. Evie Cooper threw 11.03 in the shot put to claim her Championship record.

In the pole vault Lyra Roberts (Llanelli) improved on her personal best six times throughout this afternoon competition, an improvement of 35cm. Roberts now sits at the top of the U15 Girls UK rankings. All three athletes on the podium jumped personal bests during the competition. Ruby Campion (Swansea Harriers) took silver in the event, and Alice Prosser (Swansea Harriers) completed the podium.

                                                               

After claiming four medals each on day one of competition Aidan Angilletta and Olivia Schrimshaw of Desside AAC added more medals to their tally. Angiletta claimed two further medals, a bronze in the U15 boys shot put and gold in the U15 Boys high jump. Whilst Schrimshaw claimed a gold in the U15 Girls high jump and a silver in the U15 Girls 200m, bringing their tallies to six medals each.
