Day 1: Welsh U13/U17/U20 Championships Round-Up

It was a great first day at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff for the Welsh U13/U17/U20 Indoor Championships!

It was a clean sweep for Cardiff Archers in the U17 Men's Long Jump, with Luca Phillips taking gold with a jump of 6.51m, Osian Parry taking silver with 6.29m, whilst Sean Hopkins completed the podium with a jump of 5.88m. Luca Phillips also took home gold in the U17 Men's high jump, jumping 1.77m. 

                                                              

The trend continued but this time it was a clean sweep of medals for Newport Harriers in the U17 Women's 800m. Anya Brady took gold, Lilly Grace Oakenfull took silver and Chloe Biggs claimed bronze.

Swansea Harriers' Matilda Quick threw close to a PB, with a throw of 11.85m in the U17 Women's Shot Put. The throw sees her within the top 10 UK U17 shot put rankings for 2023. Quick also picked up a silver medal in the U17 Women high jump with a jump of 1.62.

                                                            

Consistency won gold for Jacob Edghill (Colwyn Bay AC) in the U20 Men's Long Jump, jumping 6.56m three times in a row!

The day finished with a bang with Joseph Berry (Newport Harriers) setting a new Championship Best Performance in the U17 Men's 200m with a time of 22.29.
