Cynhaliwyd Pencampwriaeth Digwyddiadau Awyr Agored Athletau Cymru ac Ysgolion Cymru yn Sir Gaerfyrddin ar ddydd Sadwrn, Medi 19.

The Joint Welsh Athletics and Welsh Schools Outdoor Combined Events Championships was staged in Carmarthenshire on Saturday, September 19.
It was held at Carmarthen Leisure Centre athletics track, at the same venue that hosted the SIAB Track and Field International two years ago.

Cynhaliwyd y digwyddiad ar drac athletau Canolfan Hamdden Caerfyrddin, yr un lleoliad a gynhaliodd gystadleuaeth ryngwladol Trac a Maes SIAB ddwy flynedd yn ôl.
The event moved to a new date in the school term outside of the summer holidays to attract better participation numbers.
Dr Hedydd Davies MBE and WSAA Life Member kindly offered a personal donation to the costs of hosting the championships.
90 athletes, from experienced club athletes to those new to multi-event competition, travelled to Carmarthen on a day that began in grey and drizzly conditions and ended in bright sunshine.
The under-14 athletes competed in a quadrathlon (4 events) while the under-16 and under-18 competitors contested the pentathlon (5 events).
Combined Events disciplines included the sprint hurdles, 200m and 800m on the track. Long Jump, High Jump and Shot Put took place in-between on the field. Points were allocated to each athlete based on performances throughout to produce an overall points total.
Congratulations to Tiana Odugbesan (Blackwood Comprehensive) who recorded a new Welsh age group best of 3,321 points in the under 18 category, surpassing 3,126 points set back in 2015.

A Welsh Schools team will now be selected to represent the association at the British Schools Indoor Combined Events International in Glasgow on Saturday 14 November. The event in Scotland will feature the under 16 and under 18 age groups in the pentathlon. They will be run under World Athletics age groups) which are on calendar rather than academic years.
The thanks of Welsh Athletics and Welsh Schools go to the officials, volunteers and the army of parents who offered their assistance on the day in West Wales to ensure that the event ran smoothly.
