2026 Annual General Meeting

27/10/2026 00:00, I Mewn Blog /

The 2026 Welsh Athletics Annual General Meeting took place on Saturday, with a number of key appointments being confirmed on the day.

The meeting was the last as Chair for Steve Perks, who stood down at the end of his term – he started the meeting and introduced new Chair Nigel Walker to lead his first AGM.

It was a similar situation for outgoing President Graham Finlayson, who stepped down at the end of his term to be replaced by Athletics stalwart Bernie Jones, who commented to the membership how proud he was to become the President of Welsh Athletics. Bernie will be supported in the role by Joyce Tomala, who was appointed Vice President, replacing Ian Griffiths who stood down at the end of his term.

Welsh Athletics are delighted to welcome both Bernie and Joyce into their respective roles, both bring a huge amount of experience across all levels of the sport and will work to support the governance and staffing teams during their terms of office.

The meeting saw approval of the Annual Accounts and Audit report, plus confirmation that athlete and club membership fees will be held for the coming year.

At the meeting, it was also confirmed that the following service Awards had been agreed by the Awards and Heritage Panel;
