On Saturday the Red Kite Challenge incorporating the Welsh Trail Championships will take place in Devils Bridge, Ceredigion.

For the first time in 20 years Dic Evans will not be organising the trail race, following a stroke before Christmas last year.

This year’s edition will be raising funds for the Stroke Unit at the Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth.

James Williams, Welsh Athletics CEO shared:

“It’s great to see the running community coming together to support Dic with this event. Dic has made a huge contribution to the sport in Wales over years and the support and wishes he has received is testament to that.

On behalf of Welsh Athletics, we continue to wish him a speedy recovery, and hope that the Red Kit event at is a huge success.”

Not only will the event incorporate the Welsh Trail Championships, but also trial races to represent Wales on the international stage.

In the women’s half marathon Ffion Price (Builth & District Running Club) will be looking to retain her title after winning the 2022 edition.

Whilst in the men’s half marathon Jacob Tasker (Ogmore Phoenix) will be in action, Tasker has enjoyed a great start to 2023 and finished third in the Forest of Dean Spring Trails Half Marathon earlier this month.
