2022 Welsh Cross Country Championships - Pembrey
The 117th Welsh Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday 26th February at Pembrey Country Park.
Some event information follows;
Overview
The 117th Welsh Cross Country Championships return to Pembrey Country Park near Llanelli on Saturday 26th February. An 11 race programme will start at 11:00 with Primary School Races and conclude with the U20 men’s Championship at 15:10.
Entries for the Championships are made by Club Team Managers and the event will host competitive team races as well as offering Welsh titles and individual medals.
Previous winners in recent years include seven-time Champion Dewi Griffiths, James Hunt, Osian Perrin, Bronwen Owen and former UK Inter-Counties Champions Cari Hughes and Jenny Nesbitt.

Arrival & Parking
Pembrey Country Parkuses a barrier system with a Vehicle Number Plate Registration (ANPR) system in use.
On arrival:
- Drive up to the barrier which will open automatically. If it does not open press for a ticket and barrier will open.
- Payments must be made before leaving at any of the 3 new pay stations situated at: Beach Entrance, Ski & Activity Centre & Log Cabin before you exit the park.
- There are No Pay Stations at the exit barrier.
- Car parking charges are £3.50 for all day and £3.00 for 2 hours.
All Pay Stations are clearly marked and will accept card, contactless and cash payments.
When you enter the Park you should follow the signs to the designated car parks. These are clearly signed in the Park and cater for over 1,000 cars. The course map shows where the car parks are in relation to the course.
Registration
Registration (Race HQ) will open at 9:30 on race morning and will be situated near the finish area as indicated on the course map.
Team Manager’s will need to collect race numbers where possible. This should be done at least 40 minutes before each race starts.
THERE ARE NO ENTRIES ALLOWED ON THE DAY
The Races
The first race will be at 11:00 using a winding / technical course over mixed terrain and that is undulating in places.
Team size and scoring is as follows;
Primary Challenge Races
School years 5 & 6 (9yrs and over) with 4 to score in the team event.
Welsh Championship Races
U13 – U20: 4 to score
Senior Men: 6 to score
Senior Women: 4 to score
Master men and Women: 3 to score

Presentations
Presentations will be made alongside Race HQ as soon as possible following each race. Where possible presentations will be made for all categories on the day as follows;
Primary Races: 1st, 2nd, 3rd individuals and winning teams
Welsh Championships: 1st, 2nd, 3rd individuals / 1st, 2nd, 3rd teams
Event Facilities
A P.A. system will be used for music and for commentary / safety announcements.
Toilets will be available in view of the finish area.
Refreshements will be for sale outside the large white public marquee as shown on the course map. The marquee will then be available to provide shelter during the races.
Merchandise will not be sold at this event.
Adverse Weather Conditions
We will be monitoring weather reports ahead of the event. Moderate wind speeds are predictedbut we do not expect this to cause any significant problems.
Please ensure that you bring suitable warm, waterproof clothing and a change of clothes with you.
Primary Challenge Races
There is one race for boys, and one for girls, both 1,550m and at 11:00 and 11:10 respectively.
