Welsh Athletics/Welsh Schools Indoor Combined Events
The Welsh Athletics U14 and Welsh Schools U16 & U18 Combined events will take place at Cardiff Met, National Indoor Athletics Centre on Sunday 3rd November.
" A reminder to all athletes who wish to be considered for selection criteria for the Combined Events International in Glasgow on November 30th. Only athletes who compete at the Joint Combined Events at NIAC on November 3rd will be considered for selection. The first two Year 11/12s and the first two Year 9/10s are guaranteed a place, the other 2 places in each of the teams to be confirmed by the selection panel.
To support athletes desire to compete, the closing date has been extended to the 28th of October. A final timetable will be sent out Tuesday 29th due to the extended closing date
Entries for this event will be under the age groups of the following:
U13 - School years 6 7 & 8 - (this will be for the U14 age group events)
- Quadrathlon: 60H, LJ, SP, 800m
U15 - School years 9 & 10 - (this will be for the U16 age group events)
- Girls Pentathlon: 60H, LJ, HJ, SP, 800m
- Boys Pentathlon: 60H, LJ, 200m, SP, 800m
U17 - School years 11 & 12 - (this will be for the U18 age group events)
- Girls Pentathlon: 60H, LJ, HJ, SP, 800m
- Boys Pentathlon: 60H, LJ, 200m, SP, 800m
The scoring system used was not the traditional UK combined Events but under the International Association for Ultra Multievents (IAUM), the only difference to the overall scoring tables were the male 800m points, all other points scored were accurate to the UK scoring tables, moving forward this event will continue to use the IAUM scoring tables.
For an example a time of 2:00.00 scored using the UK tables will score 769pts with the IAUM it will score 861pts a difference of 92pts, 2:30.00 UK table scores 322pts, IAUM scores 492pts, a difference of 170 points.
