Event Start: 27/10/2024 10:00
Event Ends: 27/10/2024 14:00

The Fell, Hill, Off Road and Trail Leader module is a workshop that is designed for those who have completed the standard LiRF or Coaching Assistants qualification and who now wish to lead groups safely on more challenging terrains and in more remote areas.  The course builds on the LiRF & CA qualification, contextualizing the learning for an unpredictable environment and covers, ‘preparing for’ and ‘managing risk’ on different terrains, in varying conditions.

As well as leaders keeping group runners safe, it will also cover the techniques of Off-Road running, including ascending, descending, and coping with different terrains and conditions under foot. Fell, Hill, Off Road and Trail running has a long tradition in this country with groups tackling very tough terrain which can be held over long distances and in potentially volatile and difficult weather conditions. As such it is essential that groups are led appropriately and adhere to all safety requirements.

This qualification will provide you with insurance to lead a group within the limits of the course content and on receipt of a satisfactory Outdoor First Aid Training Course. As part of the Coaching Development Pathway  a prerequisite for this course is the Leader in Running Fitness qualification.

Candidates must engage in tasks and activities throughout the course and demonstrate improvement in engagement following any discussions with course staff. Candidates not engaging within all aspects of the course are at risk of not gaining the qualification at the end of the process.
