National Conference

DSC_0116.JPG

Saturday 19th October saw the staging of the Welsh Athletics and Run Wales National Conference at The Vale Resort, Hensol.

Both clubs and groups from across Wales travelled to engage with the speakers and the networking opportunity that the conference continues to provide. The day saw over 80 delegates in attendance, making it the biggest conference held to date and also featured the first meeting of the Junior Athlete Voice representatives. The morning was opened by James Williams, Head of Operations talking through the vision and direction for the sport in Wales.

The conference saw two ‘streams’ of presenters, an offer for the more social / recreational running clubs and groups and an offer for those operating a more formal and traditional ‘club’ offer. A strong feature of the day was the club and group presentations and our appreciation must go to the following for their support and contributions and for making the day such a success;

Svend Elkjaer (Sports Marketing Network), Bernie Henderson (Port Talbot Harriers), Philippa Walsh (Cowbridge Moovers), Tom Marshall (Sports Injury Fix), Sarah Williams (Equality Counts), Laura Kerr (Athletics Northern Ireland), Paul Harris (Penllergaer Valley Woods Runners), Hannah Pretty (Welsh Athletics/Little Lions) Josh James (Diabetes UK Cymru) and Kerry Rockey (Pontyclun Road Runners).
