The Welsh Athletics performance vision is to deliver a sustainable sector leading elite performance system that consistently transfers talented athletes to UKA’s WCP whilst winning medals at the Commonwealth Games. As part of this strategy, Welsh Athletics is committed to providing competition opportunities to developing and aspiring Welsh international athletes. Opportunities to compete for Wales are categorised as one of the following;

1. International Opportunity - a competitive opportunity in pathway events for senior Welsh athletes.

2. Representative Opportunity - a development opportunity in either pathway or non-pathway events for both junior and senior Welsh athletes.

If you are interested in becoming a Team Manager at one of our upcoming Welsh Represenative opportunties please complete the following Team Manager Expressions of Interest Form and notify Bethan Davies (Performance Logistics Assistant) of your interest by emailing ieuan.jones@welshathletics.org.

Athletes are reqired to complete both a Welfare Form and Online Joma Kit Form. Athletes will recieve these forms alongside their selection notification.

Eligibility Criteria to compete for Wales

Grounds for eligibility:

  1. Birth
  2. Parentage - athlete to go through the eligibility system to prove that one or both parents were born in Wales.
  3. Grand Parentage - athlete to go through the eligibility system to prove one or both grandparents born in Wales.
  4. Retention
  5. Residency – 3 years continuous living in Wales. Athlete to go through the eligibility system to prove they have lived permanently in Wales for at least 3 years. Any athlete claiming eligibility to compete for Wales under this qualification must supply documentation details to the office at Welsh Athletics Ltd in order to be processed before being accepted.
