World Mountain and Trail Running Championship, Saturday 5 November

Two Welsh athletes flew to Thailand in the The World Mountain and Trail Running Championships.

In the 40K race Kristian Jones (Swansea) put in a great display in his first international trail race, finishing in 5th with a time of 3:17:47.

In the long trail race, the British Trio including Harry Jones (Mynyddwyr De Cymru) finished in 8th position in the team standings over the 80K distance. Jones finished just outside of the top 10 in 11th position with a time of 7:54:10.

Richard Burton 10k, Sunday 6 November

This weekend marked the 40th Richard Burton road race in Cwmavon.

The race was won by Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) with a time of 29:55, the first athlete to run sub 30 in 30 years on the course. 

Next across the line was Mike Ward (Cardiff AC) with a time of 31:05.

Making up the podium in the Men's race was James Heneghan, finishing in 31:09.

 

Olivia Tsim (Pontypridd Roadents RC) won the women's event with a time of 35:37

Finishing in second position was Lucy Marland (Les Croupiers) in 37:29.

Donna Morris finished in third (Builth Wells RC), in 37:44.

Joint Indoor Combined Events, Sunday 6 November

It was a great day of athletics at NIAC as the indoor season gets underway.

Benjamin Parker (Aberdare Valley ACC) climbed from 6th position to 1st during the final event to win the P3 U18B Pen (YR 11 &12), achieving a PB in the 800 metres.

In the P4 U18G Pen (YR 11 & 12) Jessica Lee won the event with a combined total of 3388 points, 25 points shy of the Championship Best Performance.

Appalachian AC Cross Country Championships, Friday 4 November 

There were two Welsh winners in the Appalachian AC Cross Country Championships in Columbia USA.

Ellen Mary Kearney (Wirral / Milligan College) won the Women’s U20 5K with a time of 17:29.

Bryn Woodall (Colwyn Bay / Milligan College) won the Men’s U20 8K with a time of 24:27.
