SIAB Cross Country International, 25 March

On Saturday the SIAB Cross Country International took place at Sefton Park in Liverpool. 40 athletes along with support staff and delegates from the Welsh Schools Athletics Association made the journey.

In the Junior races, Holly Humphreys (YG Gwyr/Afan Nedd Tawe) was the first athlete across the finish line, finishing 7th in the Junior girls race with a time of 10:52. Garyn Tough (Aberdare Community School / Glamorgan Valleys) was the first Welsh athlete home in the Junior Boys race completing the course in 13:07, finishing in 17th.

In the Inter Races, it was Mille Gold (St Illtyds CHS / Cardiff and the Vale) was the first Welsh athlete across the finish line, finishing 12th overall with a time of 13:56. In the Inter Boys race there was a great silver medal for Iwan Thomas (Ysgol Glan y Mor / Dyfed) completing the course in 18:16.

Both relay teams finished in 4th position, with the Junior Team completing the course in 21:38 and the Inter Team finishing in a time of 21:03.


Cardiff Bay 10K, 26 March

It was a great day of running at the Cardiff Bay 10K on Sunday, with 100s or Welsh Athletes in action.

In the Senior Women’s race there was a number of performance programme athletes competing. Natasha Cockram (Micky Moris Racing Team) was the first Welsh athlete home, finishing in 2nd. Clara Evans (Pontypridd Roadents) was next with a time of 33:37, finishing just outside of the podium places. Jenny Nesbitt (Pontypridd Roadents) was the final of the performance programme athletes across the line in 7th with a time of 34:31.

In the Men’s race there was another second place finish for a Welsh athlete, this time it was for Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers), completing the 10k in 29:58. Dafydd Jones (Carmarthen & District Harriers) was the second Welsh athlete home, finishing in 4th in a time of 30:22.


Welshpool 10K, 26 March

Development performance programme athlete, Andrew Davies (Stockport Harriers) was first home in the Welshpool 10K on Sunday, finishing in 34:28.

In the women’s race, Emma Palfrey (Cardiff AAC) was the first athlete across the finish line, completing the 10K course in 44:33.
