England Athletics U20 & U23 Championships, 18 – 19 June
There were great performances Welsh performances at the England Athletics U20 & U23 Championships in Chelmsford over the weekend.
Gracie Griffiths (Pembrokeshire Harriers) claimed the U23 3000M Racewalk title along with a new Welsh Record, with a time of 13:48.72. Whilst Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff Athletics) claimed the U23 100m title in a time of 10.16.
In the U20 Men’s 3000m Dafydd Jones (Swansea Harriers) took bronze in a time of 8:27.09. Meanwhile Mark Mellor (Cardiff Athletics) claimed joint first in the U23 Men’s Pole Vault clearing 4.70m, in a new season best.
There was another Welsh win, this time in the U23 Men’s 110 Hurdles, Thomas Wilcock (Northampton AC) ran a new personal best time of 13.98.
Shawn Ampofo (Blackheath & Bromley) claimed third in the U23 Triple Jump with a distance of 14.98, a new personal best.
Meeting Stanislas, 18 June
In Nancy, France, Melissa Courtney-Bryant (Poole AC) had a superb run to take first in the Women’s 1500m with a new personal best time of 4:00.45.
Folksam Gran Prix, 18 June
Joesph Brier (Swansea Harriers) was in action in Gothenburg, Sweeden. Brier finished third in the Senior Men’s 400m A Final with a time 46.22.
Campeonato Autonomico Absoluto Al Valencia, 17 June
In Spain over the weekend, Dewi Hammond (Cardiff Athletics) took victory in the Senior Men’s 100m with a time of 10.52.
Hammond also competed in the Senior Men’s 200m, finishing in eighth place with a time of 24.03.
Czeslaw Cybulski Memorial, 18 June
Piers Copeland (Pontypridd Roadents) put in a season best performance in Poland on Sunday. Copeland finished sixth in the Senior Men’s 1500m with a time of 3:38.52.
