Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10K inc Welsh 10K Championships, 14 May

It was a sunny day in Caerphilly on Sunday for the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k incorporating the Welsh 10k Championships. The event also hosted the second race of the Welsh Road Race series.

In the men’s race Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) retained his title, completing the course in 30:23. Jonathan Butler (Swansea Harriers) finished in second with a time of 30:40, whilst Alex Jackson (Cardiff Athletics) completed the podium positions in third with 31:00.

Whilst Lauren Cooper (Parc Bryn Bach) claimed in the women’s title in 35:39, Alaw Evans (Les Croupiers) was the second athlete home in 36:13 and Olivia Tsim (Pontypridd Roadents) completed the top three in 36:30.

In the Welsh 10K Road Race series it was Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) and Lauren Cooper (Parc Bryn Bach) took the maximum points.

World Para Athletics Grand Prix, 14 May

In the penultimate Grand Prix of the season, Harrison Walsh (Swansea Harriers) threw 55.83m to win the discus event.

Belfast Irish Milers Meet, 13 May

On Saturday in Belfast, Seren Bundy Davies (Trafford) ran 52.76 seconds in the women’s 400mn Race A to finish second. Her fastest time over 400m since 2016.

UTMB Eryri 25k, 13 May

Kristian Jones (Swansea Harriers) finished first in the men’s race as he prepares for the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships next month. Jones completed the 25k course in 1:57:42.

West Wales Regional Championships, 14 May

It was a great day in Carmarthen for the West Wales Regional Championships which saw over 250 athletes take part.

There was a new course record in the U13 Boys 800m, with Jude Jenkins (Neath Harriers) running a time of 2:22:54.

Michael Jenkins (Pembrokeshire Harriers) placed first in both shot put and discus. Throwing 15.23m in the shot put and 48.19m in the discus.

North Wales Regional Championships, 14 May

On Sunday the North Wales Regional Championships took place in Wrexham at Queensway Stadium. 

Sabrina Fortune (Deeside AC) placed first in the Senior Women’s shot put with a throw of 13.43m.

Britain’s Ocean City Half Marathon, 14 May

At the Britain’s Ocean City Half Marathon in Plymouth on Sunday Welsh athlete Ellie Robinson (Newport Harriers / Plymouth Uni) was the second female across the finish line. Completing the half marathon in 1:27:59.

RunWithTheWind & Throws 1, 10 May

Earlier in the week the first RunWithTheWind event took place at Cardiff International Sports Campus.

The event saw Transition Programme Athlete Storm Evans (Carmarthen & District Harriers) throw 44.14m to achieve the Commonwealth Youth Games nomination standard.
