Wednesday 9th of August – Joseph Berry & Sophie Lisk in action

On the third day of Athletics competition in Trinidad, there was plenty of on-track action. Team captain Joseph Berry (Newport Harriers) took on the men’s 200m and Sophie Lisk (Cardiff Archers) took to the track for the women’s 100m hurdles final.

Joseph Berry (Newport Harriers) was the first to compete in the men’s 200m heats. In the fifth and final heat, Berry finished second to progress to the semi-final with a time of 21.99 seconds.

Later in the evening, the Newport Harrier took to the track in the first of the 200m semi-finals, in which he finished second with a new personal best time of 21.57 seconds to qualify for the final.

Next to compete was Sophie Lisk (Cardiff Archers) in the women’s 100m hurdles. Lisk finished fifth in the final with a time of 14.00 seconds.

Both athletes will be back in action on Thursday, with Lisk and Berry taking to the track in the mixed 4x100m relay final (00:05 UK time), and Berry in the men’s 200m final (21:35).
