T11 British recorder holder James Ledger is looking for a new guide runner to join him and his team on his journey. James is looking for a sprinter who has the ability to run 10.7 seconds and under over 100m.
James competes in the T11 classification, which is for athletes with vision impairments. In T11 running the athlete is completely blindfolded and attached to their guide via a tether. Communication and rhythm are a huge part of the event.
James shared:
“Without a guide runner I can’t follow my dreams, so for me the guide is so important in my sport. Without them none of this would be possible for anyone all over the world in the T11 classification”.
Up to date, James’ achievements have taken him all over the world, he competed for Team Wales at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. He has also competed at numerous WPA Grand Prix events globally. James is ranked UK number 1 and holds the British Record for the 60m and 100m. Currently ranked 14th in the world and 6th in Europe.
James’ dream is to compete at the Paralympic Games and is doing everything he can to make that possible for Paris 2024, he also has his sights set on the World Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan next year. Looking ahead further he would like to compete at as many majors as possible, pushing toward winning medals at the highest level and to break the British record further.
He also hopes to provide a potential guide the opportunity to share the biggest moments in sport with him; it is very much a team effort and will go above and beyond to showcase how important guide runners are.
