Wales junior athletes will be competing against their Home Countries and Irish counterparts this Saturday 3rd of September at Ambleside, Cumbria in the 22nd running of the British & Irish Junior Mountain Running Championships.
The event takes place from Rothay Park and will be run on a clockwise, up, and down race route towards Loughrigg Fell and back with the under 17’s competing over a 4.80km/250m course and the under 20’s 5.72km/296m.
The English may have the advantage of having held their trial races on the event race routes but, the Welsh trial races at Betws-y-Coed on similar terrain, distance and height gain/descent will have prepared our Welsh athletes for what lies ahead, and they will all have earned their international vests.
The competitive international nature of the event will certainly help with all the athlete’s development as our Welsh athletes compete for individual as well as team medals.
