Schools across Wales have taken part in a National Sportshall event in the run-up to Christmas 2020. This involved a pentathlon consisting of standing long jump and high jump, a speed bounce, a chest-push of a 2 kg medicine ball as well as a timed shuttle run over a set distance. Points were then awarded against each performance with points then aggregated to produce a school points tally.
Schools representing 5 out of the 8 School Districts participated. Sportshall athletics is a fun, safe entry-level introduction to the sport of Athletics which develops key skills.
Congratulations to Croesyceiliog from South East Wales who narrowly edged out Brynmawr (from the same School District) in the boys’ competition, with both achieving 1500+ in terms of points score. Hawarden High (North East Wales) was a further 69 team points behind in third.
Hawarden did however win the girls' competition with an 11 point victory over Croesyceiliog, Glantaf (Cardiff & the Vale) also made the podium a further 14 points adrift.
Full leader boards are attached to this report. Congratulations to all schools and individuals who gave it a go.
