West Wales claim Regional title with Inter-Schools Champions also crowned

West Wales win the Welsh Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships in a combined fixture with the Welsh Inter-Schools Championships.
The West were able to prize the overall title from the South Region who claimed the accolade in 2019.
Ideal conditions blessed the 22nd edition of the event which took place on a revised course at the longtime home of Welsh Schools Cross Country running at the Penlan Arena in Brecon.
Matthew Edwards was an emphatic winner of the men’s race in a contest that had been led early on by Dewi Griffiths and Phil Matthews.
Edwards was able to get away from the rest of the field on the final lap, claiming victory in 29:45 over the undulating 9,350m course and leading his South Wales team to the men’s title.
Matthews was second running for the East Region with Griffiths third, competing for the West.
Lauren Cooper was a comfortable winner in the women’s race, improving from a fourth place finish last time and leading her East Team to victory.
Megan Carter-Davies and Katrin Reischmann were second and third competing for the West Team.
Lloyd Sheppard-Brown was the U20 men’s victor running for the East with Deri McLuskey claiming the U17 men’s title for North Wales and Inter-Schools honours running for Ysgol Llanyllin.
Sophia Harrison won the U20 women’s race running for the West with Bethan Hardman claiming regional honours for the South and the senior girls title for Cowbridge Comprehensive School.
Iwan Thomas of the West and representing Glan Y Mor won the U15 boys and middle boys titles respectively.
Beca Haf Brown claimed U15 girls and middle Girls titles for the North and for Bodedern.
William Coles won both titles for the West (U13 boys) and Bro Dinefwr (Junior Boys) with Libby Hale claiming her victories for the West Region (U13 girls) and Bishopston Comprehensive School (junior Girls).
